The Ultimate Collaboration: An AALR/AAALF Update
By Christine R. Tipps, AALR President, 2004-05
The following is a brief update regarding the collaboration between
the American Association for Leisure and Recreation (AALR) and the
American Association for Active Lifestyles and Fitness (AAALF).
Members of both groups have been and continue to work cooperatively in
their commitment to create a New Entity - a new AAHPERD Association.
This is a great undertaking and involves a great deal of input from
each of the Associations' membership.
Ideas from both BODs (AALR and AAALF) and all opinions/feedback
received from the membership to date, as well as the feedback and
concerns expressed by individuals who attended the April 1st, 2004
Town Hall Meeting at the National AAHPERD Convention in New Orleans,
will be synthesized by an AALR/AAALF Six Member Development Team/Task
Force. The membership of the Development Team/Task Force is as
follows:
AALR: Betty van der Smissen, Marcia Carter, Judy Brookhiser
AAALF: Connie Fox, Tom Evaul, Tom Sawyer
Once the Development Team/Task Force synthesizes information, a first
draft will be distributed for input and then revised as appropriate.
This process will be repeated a number of times. Feel free to provide
input, feedback, and to express any concerns that you have to the
leadership of AALR and/or AAALF throughout this process.
E-mails will
be forwarded to the appropriate individuals by the AALR and AAALF
staff in Reston, so become a part of the process and let your voice be
heard:
VClary@aahperd.org or
JSeaman@aahperd.org . In addition to these addresses, one may also
log onto the www.aahperd.org website and check out AALR's and AAALF's website
links entitled "ABOUT" and "LEADERS" which will connect you to the
pages where the leaders of AALR and AAALF can be e-mailed or
contacted. |
